How are you?
Do you sometimes feel lost, out of place in the world or like you have lost touch with the real you?
Maybe you start each day dreading what is ahead, feeling isolated from other people or struggling to do the things you need to do or want to do. You feel like you’re dragging yourself through each day or you are overwhelmed by worries.
Perhaps you experience feelings of loneliness; perhaps you lack confidence in yourself to create the life you want. Things that used to bring you joy now seem flat and pointless.
You may have experienced losses in your life. Not only the grief of bereavement, but maybe the breakdown of a relationship, loss of a job or role in life, loss of some part of your identity, loss of health or mobility.
If any of these strike a chord with you, you are in the right place.
Why choose me as your counsellor
With a counselling approach based in compassion and acceptance, I can help you to talk about the difficult things in life, reconnect with your inner wisdom, feel better and enjoy life again.
Areas I help with include depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem and confidence, grief and loss, relationship issues and life changes.
I offer outdoor sessions that give you the choice of an ecotherapy approach which works with nature as a co-therapist.
I can also bring ecotherapy and other creative approaches into our work in my therapy room or online.
I don’t ignore the world out there - horrific things are in the news and that can affect our mental health. And the norms and expectations of our society can be hugely damaging for marginalised groups and people who don’t fit in. I start from the idea that it’s that world that is wrong, not you.
About me
I have lived experience of depression, anxiety and being an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and I identify as neurodivergent, a recent discovery in life. I’m a white cis-gender heterosexual woman. My chosen pronouns are she/her.
I’ve been many things – a newspaper journalist, a teacher, a writer of short stories, a forest school leader, a proofreader and editor, a mother, a wife, a divorcee, a partner, a daughter.
Life now revolves around my healing work and my values. I run my counselling practice alongside events and offerings that connect people with themselves, with each other and with the rest of nature. These include forest bathing, forest school for adults, therapeutic writing and indoor ecotherapy.
